St. Benedict taught us how to be strong, obedient, how to pray, what real work is for and especially the prayer and work. St. Benedict becomes an instrument of God to remind us of our purpose in this world.
The world we live in is so sinful, there are many temptations, and trials that we encounter, and so St. Benedict’s core values teaches us how to communicate with God, by praying with all your heart, listening and seeing with your eyes wide open the light and the hope is God. He also enlightens us that in every problem that we have is a test so that we will able to learn and grow within ourselves, mentally, physically and spiritually. There are many values that has been taught to us first is Service, means that we are living in this world not for us but for the benefit of others. We as sons and daughters of God should be a warrior and a model to other people to show His glory to others through you. The next one is Community, we should treat others as if they were God, because God says to us the way you treat your neighbors is the way you treat him. Love your neighbors, your friends, your classmates and professor as if you see God in them, in that way we can have peace and freedom in our country. The next value is integrity wherein you were able to act having your good moral character. The next one is hospitality, where we welcome other people as if they are part of your family, and lastly the moderation, wherein you will keep things flowing and in order and you try to balance everything and give every time with stuffs you do.
In life there people who let you down, those who will persecute, those who will say “you can’t do that,” but the values of St. Benedict teach us how to be strong and not to depend on what other people say, because the things they say against you don’t matter at all, it just the tactic of the enemies to defeat you and so that you will fall back to God. Remember that God made everything beautiful in His eyes we are a precious creature of God and so we should hold on to the promises of the Lord, because words are true and living.
During my Bene class I realize how blessed I am, because God loves me so much. No matter what we do, He will not love us less but He will love us more. God showed to everyone the true meaning of love, through that cross as a symbol of His mighty great love that we are saved for the sins that we’ve done as an exchange of the life of His only son Christ Jesus. I also learned in my bene class that all the things in the world are valuable, because they are created by God. I have learned to appreciate things by its own, not because of in how expensive they are or how beautiful they are with many things on it but accepting the fact that, that small thing has its own purpose that is why it was made like that. Even each one of us has his or her own purpose that is why we should accept who are and the people around us. I have learned not to judge people or condemn them, because we don’t know what they are going through, we are created by God to love each other and consider everyone as brothers and sisters no matter what race, skin color, height, country or religion they are. Our very purpose in this world is to show and give love to all mankind. Treat everyone as if they are Christ God will be happy if He saw us like that. And lastly I have learned how to pray in everything that I do and to dedicate my everyday to Him. And all I can say is “To God be all the Glory.”
