The Core Values of St. Benedict
living in the life of the ways of St. Benedict is a life evolving in values. His monastic ways are actually not only for the lives of the monks but in truth also for the whole mankind, inside and outside of the religious walls.
My stay in San Beda became more meaningful when I started having the Benedictine subjects for it made me see and feel the real vision of the college's values. I was able to internalize the studies, rules, etc. that the benedictine monks would like to inculcate in us.

My stay in San Beda became more meaningful when I started having the Benedictine subjects for it made me see and feel the real vision of the college's values. I was able to internalize the studies, rules, etc. that the benedictine monks would like to inculcate in us.
Listen, O my son, to the precepts of thy master, and incline the ear of thy heart, and cheerfully receive and faithfully execute the admonitions of thy loving Father, that by the toil of obedience thou mayest return to Him from whom by the sloth of disobedience thou hast gone away.
The very simple and humble request of St. Benedict awakens my heart in an instant to hear my heart at its deepest shouts and to openly welcome the will of the Holy Father to do all things in his loving name. St. Benedict's values illuminates the simple yet firm obedience I must have in order to live for the one who gave life to us. His direction of values as if constantly reminds to me that by obedience, my acts shall take my soul into the heavens under the eyes of God and its angels.
I realized that through the values given by him, praise to the lord is much given for doing all good and acting wholly for him, for his will. Further, the values made me submit myself to the way of life that is surely selfless and unworldly. Being so, the purest of goodness is brought out in me as I see the very essence of the purposes of things.
St. Benedict made me look closely to the totality of faith as I learned to meditate on the realizations people sometimes tend to oversee about their faith. Through this, I came to understand more how deep my devotion to God is and I even understood more the importance of the my life.
Truly, I learned that St. Benedict's values are directed to an everlasting life through our acts. I am assured that I will be guided everlastingly if I will obey the simple things St. Benedict gives and that I will have a more meaningful stay here on Earth.
