Rufin, Carl John
St. Benedict teaches us not just “ora et labora” (prayer and work), but it should be compromised together as we struggle through life, and also that we should remember that God is always with us, and whatever the things we do. It should always be “God first before other things”. Be thankful that we are what we are now and we might also share our experiences to others. He also teaches us to be HUMBLE at all times in order to have a stable life. The teachings of Benedictine Spirituality directly affect our lifestyle as we should live a very simple life. We should cooperate with other people at times of work and be inferior among others in order to be a stable community of God.
Whenever when we are in trouble, be patient for we should listen to God first at our hearts in silence before we may be able to talk with him. This will help us have a strong bond/communication with God. Sometimes we forget to think about God whenever we do something unnecessary, especially when we are being dragged by overt acts which lead us to be sinful. We should be able to know what is right and wrong for St. Benedict teaches us to be God-fearing. We should also learn to convert/distinguish ourselves from what we are in the past and the present in order to have a peaceful life. And lastly, we should keep our faith strong and unwavering to God, for we see God as the salvation to all of us.
